Adventure and photography have always been great passions for Göran Thulin and in recent years he had the opportunity to combine these life interests. The most recent assignment was as a photographer in TV4’s adventure program “Expeditionen” where viewers got to follow six celebrities’ attempts to reach the 6,119 m high mountain peak Lobuche Peak in Nepal.
The exhibition “The Expedition Photographer” shows photos from the “Expedition” and from Göran’s adventure trips to Antarctica, Kilimanjaro, South Africa and the Galapagos Islands.
During the adventure trips, challenges such as seasickness, altitude sickness, cold, snowstorms, electricity supply problems, shoe chafing and stomach ailments must be overcome. Nothing can get in the way of the perfect image – sometimes you do not succeed!
Many of the trips have been to areas that are exposed to great negative environmental impact, environments that are changing and that risk disappearing as we know them today. Göran’s ambition is for the images to create a commitment so that we all do what we can to preserve these unique environments, but perhaps above all motivate the viewer to create their own adventures and expeditions.
