Picture 1 :

South Africa, Krüger parken

The South African zebra has both black and beige stripes. There are various hypotheses as to why zebras are striped; protection against insect bites, misleading lions when hunting, evening out the heat, etc. Probably there are several reasons for the stripes¨, but they are beautiful!

Picture 2 :

South Africa, Johannesburg

Rhino farm near Johannesburg. Due to hunting, now illegal, the rhino is threatened with extinction. To save the big animals, there are today a few rhino farms that were started on a voluntary basis. But it is financially difficult to run such projects; the animals must be protected 24 hours a day by armed guards, land must be fenced in and the animals eat a lot.

Picture 3 :

South Africa, Krüger parken

The African savannah elephant can reach the age of 60, and weigh up to 6 tons. In 100 years, the African elephant has decreased by 96% due to intense killing to gain access to ivory. Hunting the elephant is currently banned.
